My name is Ryan Ellison and this is my portfolio website. I absolutely love web design and development! I write valid W3C compliant sites with usability and accessibility in mind. I have been working as a freelance consultant in web since the days when tables were used for layouts. I am constantly learning new things about design, no matter what the medium, and strive to bring it all together in my work. I am a graduate of Full Sail University where I obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Digital Arts and Design. That's about all there is to say right now.... so go look at some of my work! Thanks for stopping by and visit again soon.
This student project incorporated XHTML, and CSS. The challenge was to create and organize a fully functional site with the information needed to promote a restaurant. I used CODA to write all the code, and Photoshop for the layout.
Project focused on designing for screen printing on T-Shirts. This is one of the designs I came up with while working to design a shirt with a surf/skate look and feel. Brand name was dictated by project requirements, logo and design was done by me.
As part of a print design class I was asked to design a poster for a possible lecture by one of my favorite designers. I chose a local artist named Conor Keller. I combined my own style with some of his design styles and come up with this poster. Conor loved the poster.
A 12 page Magazine done in Adobe InDesign. I designed all typography and page layouts as well as tailored content to support a central message. I chose a movement for designers to make more than just a pretty picture...instead, making changes in the world around them. Within the magazine are several ads and articles directed to deliver content that discusses the new forward-thinking inventions and concepts. The articles were retrieved from various non-profit organizations websites. Stock images altered and used where needed. Thanks to Daniel Kafka for providing me with his original concept sketch artwork for the feature article.
This project was intended to develop typographic awareness. Using type to strengthen a design, and convey a message. We were challenged with designing a logo by manipulating a font or creating a new font. The images and names were used solely for class project and not intended for production in any way.
Art and Ink
A documentary style piece I conceptualized, wrote, shot, narrated, and edited for AKT Enterprises, a thriving screen printing company in Orlando, Florida. I was mimicking the format of a popular TV show that shows how thing are made. The process, from start to finish, took just over one month to complete. My workflow was somewhat constricted, as this was part of a class project at Full Sail University as well.
I enjoy shooting time-lapse image sequences of scenes that people usually don't take the time to enjoy. This is one from downtown Orlando, Florida that consisted of several hundreds of photos. Shot with Nikon D300.
Mock 60 Second Ad
For a motion graphics course I was given the challenge of choosing a commercial product (fake or real) and creating an ad campaign for it. The objective was to have a 60 second, 30 second, and 15 second edit of the same ad. This is the full 60 second version of my ad campaign.
A time-lapse sequence done of myself and Max Benjamin @ The LOFT in 2009. Shot with Nikon D300, Edited and rendered in Final Cut Pro and After Effects.
